Michael's Story

My fellow classmates of 1980, let me take you back 40 years ago to September 1977, when we first started high school. I know a lot of you went to Chico High; but as for me i went to Pleasant Valley High, thats because i was going through a special ed class in the morning, i was also their for my morning classes. But in the afternoon, i went to Chico High for my afternoon classes, that is why i was going to two different schools, it was not until September 1978, when i learned that Chico High, had the special ed class. So instead of me going to two different schools i decided to stay at Chico High to finish out my Junior and Senior years. Some of you may or may not remember January or February 1980; when we had to take a physical for spring sports at school. I tried out for the baseball team, but i got cut from the team; but one good thing did come out of it, the coach offered me a position as a team manager, so i took the job as team manager; which i still got to be on the team. After the season was over you might not know this, but i was named manager of the year, i do not know how i became manager of the year for our school. In May of 1980, during music day at school, i do not know the name of the girl i was dancing with during lunch time, she was the cute blonde hair girl, she had her ankle wrapped with an ace bandage. I would like to know what everyone is doing since graduating high school; as for me, i went off to college to study Fire Science, i had trouble passing my classes. In March of 1983, i went to the Butte Fire Center to be summer help, but i did not meet their qualifications; so in September of that year, i went to the unemployment office to look for a job, i found one that sounded intersting; so i put in for it, it was a job as a Forestry Aide, come to find out it was a job with the California Conservation Corps; so after filling out the papers, i went to Sacramento, to finish the rest of my paperwork. After finishing my paper work, i went to the C.C.C. academy, for three weeks of training, after the three weeks was up, i went to work at a Flood Center called Woodlake, it was about an hour from Fresno, City of Exeter is about 15 min...Expand for more
