Michael's Story
Life
I've been living in the San Francisco area for most of my adult life. I've been married (second time's the charm) for 14 years. I survived VietNam, several midlife crises, and I am now an elementary school teacher. Looking forward to retirement and moving to a small town near the ocean.
School
I was kind of a nobody in school, small group of friends, dated nobody, had huge crushes (unrequited) on many girls, did only OK grade-wise, not great. Went to Wayne State and became a hippie/commie/pinko/English major. Smoked a lot of funny stuff, drank a lot of other stuff, went to VietNam, lost touch with my high school friends.
College
I attended Wayne State U. and graduated in 1974. Got Masters from San Francisco State in 1991. Did gradua...Expand for more
te work for California teaching credential. Have been a student most of my adult life.
Workplace
I've had many jobs since high school. After college I worked universities in Michigan and California. Then I joined the corporate world for many years. Then, after being being relieved (by the economy) of a horrendous career, I became a teacher, something I should have done in the beginning.
Military
Got drafted in 1970 which saved me from being a nearly homeless bum. Spend a year in Kentucky and Georgia. Went to that war. Got shot at. Shot back. Took my malaria pills every day. Came home with no post-traumatic syndrome (lucky me!) Went back to school because I met too many guys who showed me what I could be if I didn't get an education.
