Michael's Story
Life
I followed my dream of architecture and graduated from the University of Oregon with a Bachelor of Architecture in 1986. I returned to Portland, worked in a couple different architecture firms. Then in 1995, I put out my own shingle.
My work includes single and multi-family residential, churches, college dormitories, education facilities, commercial, and office designs. In 1997, I was hired by a Dallas, Texas firm to manage their Portland office. In one year, we designed over 1,200 multi-family housing units including for sale townhomes in Orenco Station and West Linn, Oregon.
I currently serve as architect and senior construction coordinator for the Portland Development Com...Expand for more
mission (PDC). This position includes numerous renovation projects for various housing needs around the city. I continue to update design review policies and criteria for Green/Sustainable Development for the PDC.
In between the work that pays, I have taken off the entire upper floor of my residence and have rebuilt it. This was a seven year project! I am enjoying life with family, friends, and the rewarding experiences of the work before me.
Life is so much fun. This is especially the case having endured a brain tumor which was removed in '96. Part of the celebration of life was to renew my experiences with construction first hand by approaching my home remodeling and addition.
