Michael's Story
Entered military service in November of 1968. After training was assigned to 5thSFGA B-43 in the delta region of 4 corp in the delta in the middle of no where. After the military I joined the Santa Clara County Sheriff’s office. After 7 years I transferred to Sunnyvale Public Safety and after 6 years was injured in a SWAT call out and retired. Went back to school and earned a k-12 teaching credential and a masters degree. Taught literature and U.S history. Worked summers as a machinist for my brother-in-law. Finally retired in 2010. for injuries sustained in Vietnam and the Police department. Just had both knees replaced at the VA by Stanford doctors who did a great job. I have recovered completely and can walk. And after two back surgeries I can stand up straight. As we get older I guess we talk about our injuries. The bright side is I can enjoy my grandkids and great grandson.
My wife and I live in the Santa Cruz Mountains on ten acres without neighbors close by. Quietness. I still split my own firewood and clean up the brush, work on my cars and go skeet shooting. Life is good.
