Michael's Story
It has been almost 50 years since graduating from PHS. A lot has changed over the years. I use to have more hair than I knew what to do with, and that's just it, I couldn't do anything with it. Now I don't have any and realize I should have been grateful for what I had. :)
I used to play tennis 4 or more hours a day. I haven't picked up a tennis racket since 1986 and it shows, both in my weight and fitness.
I collected stamps and coins ( many in school may not have known that even though everyone knew I was a nurd), and I still do. Come pick them up cheap at my estate sale when I am gone because no one in the family seems to be interested in that.
I married a girl from Berwick (yeah I know) :). We have been married since 1977, I have been blessed with two daughters and one grandson.
I was a jack of all trades early on in my life working in retail (grocery, Tom's Chips, Borden Milk) and then went to work in the oil industry (Transworld Drilling as a mechanic, Conner's Repair as a mechanic, and then Cameron Iron Works on the assembly line and...Expand for more
shipping). It was at Cameron where I had a live changing event, a back injury which side lined me for 6 years. That gave way to doing something I probably should have done out of high school, and that is to get a college degree. In high school my passion was Accounting. When I went to college (10 years after graduating at PHS) I was more into electronics so got a degree in Computer Science. Since that time I have been living in Texas because there were no opportunities in Louisiana at the time for a person with a Computer Science degree.
Also during that 6 years of recovery from my back injury I took several coursed in electronics hoping to become an electronic technician. That didn't work out but it lead to a new hobby which I have enjoyed for many years, restoration of antique radios. Over the years I have restored many radios, mostly giving them to friends, family, and co-workers.
I probably will be working a few more years. At the end of it all, I have a garage full of radio projects that will keep me busy for the rest of my life. :)
