Michael's Story
Hard to believe we are all in our 70's now. It has been a grand life! After high school a move to Hawaii to surf (my parents really thought it was to go to school) followed by moving to San Francisco. There I caught a ship, a tanker, and started a 30 year career/voyage on many ships, in good weather and bad, war zones and tropical paradises, until retirement at 50. Messing about on a sailboat I was restoring, I took a couple of classes at the local Community College. I fell in love with going to school, eventually transferring to UC Berkeley and getting my degree at 60. Do it backwards, ...Expand for more
no? I retired from a state job and moved to Port Angeles WA, just across the Straits from Victoria with Olympic National Park in my backyard. As I said, a grand life! You might try reaching me with yahoo. I use tropixsea for my name. Sort of apropos, doncha think?
As for the photos, there is one from the Port Townsend Wooden Boat Festival from last year, another while on a walk across England when I was 50, another right before going ashore in San Francisco at around 40, and the last one in an engine room at around 30. As I mentioned, the profile pic was on the Camino de Santiago in 2022
