Michael's Story
Life
Attended Oklahoma State following high school, receiving a BS in Biological Sciences in '74. Worked on Masters in Natural Sciences for next two years.
Married Marilyn Murphy of Tulsa in May of '75. We met at OSU. Still married; no children, 5 cats!
Got teaching job in Broken Arrow, OK, at South Intermediate in '76 and taught there through end of '81.
Left teaching for computer programming and systems analysis in late '81. Worked for McDonnell Douglas in Tulsa for a couple of years, then Transok for 13 years, Williams Communications for 6 years, First Data for 3 years, and returned to Williams for the remaining 12 years of my career. Retirement finds me continuing to be engaged with cycling through the Tulsa Bicycle Club (tulsabicycleclub.com) and a local program for kids known as BIKE CLUB (bikeclubtulsa.com), where we work with 5th graders to teach bike safety and enjoy after-school rides throughout the school year. I also volunteer with the Animal Rescue Foundation (arftulsa.org) and, along with my wife, Marilyn, coordinate volunteers and care of the cats we host in our local PetSmart. I'm an avid flower gardener, reader, and OKC Thunder fan!
I've enjoyed it all, have a great life, a wonderful wife, a home in mid-town Tulsa, two cats, a dog, and look forward to what each new day brings.
