Michael's Story
I live in Webster, NY these days with my family. My wife is Lisa Brant (Fairport '84) and we have two girls, Tori and Gabby. I founded The Scibetta Law Office in 1996 and handle lots of criminal trial matters.
As my hair turns gray, I continue to look for ways to punish myself physically. The latest masochism is running.
I ran my first 5 mile race March 18, 2008, in downtown Rochester with alumnus Joe Giordano '85. I finished it! Joe finished sooner! Hurt a lot the next day. Guess training might have helped. Good thing it was a St. Patty's race and there was lots of beer afterwards. Idid get to see and visit briefly with alumnus Mary (Darlak) Wojnowski '85 which was nice. Mary finished waaaaay before us.
I then ran in the Lilac 10K (6.2 mi) May 18, 2008. It went okay as I have been training. I ran the race...survived and bettered times by 50 seconds per mile. Mary W was there and once again crushed my time. Didn't hurt so bad this time ...Expand for more
afterwards though.
I registered to run the Utica Boilermaker 15K (9.3 mi) with fellow alumni Joe Giordano '85 and Larry Giangreco '80 on July 13, 2008.
UPDATE: Been sidelined for two months with shin splints. Totally sucks. Boilermaker race is OUT.
Been resting and rehabbing under the care of alumnus Michael Giordano, a great podiatrist and friend. The good news is that I began running again, albeit, shorter distances and a bit slower to test things out (2 to 3 miles). The better news is that my older daughter Tori has started running along with me. Great for both of us. She is now intent on trying out for cross-country in school.
Just ran Penfield 5k with Joe Giordano on September 28th. Drizzly rain but a good race. Bettered my times and legs held up on the old man. Mary W did not run but her daughters did...they both edged me out!!!!! Damn.
Summer as a whole has been great and the kids are having a ball. What else could you ask for?
