Michael's Story
Life
After graduating, I went straight to work. That is where I met my wife, Rena. We have been married since 2001 and had our son, Ethan, in 2003. We live in Cherokee.
School
In school, I always thought I was ready to get out and be an adult. Now, I wish I was back in school! Life is much more fun in high school.
College
After I graduated, I started my college career at UNA. I found out quickly that I did not like that place at all. Neither the campus nor most of the students/teachers was friendly. I transferred to NWSCC and continued my major in CIS. Since I was a volunteer firefighter and had joined the rescue squad, I decided to try EMT school. After I got my EMT license...Expand for more
, I was offered a full-time supervisor position with my current job, Colbert County 911. Due to the shifts, I had to slack off on school, and eventually quit going all together.
Workplace
Straight out of high school, I started working at the Colbert County 911 center. After getting my EMT license at NWSCC, I also took on a part-time job at Helen Keller Ambulance. I was eventually offered a Supervisor position at 911. Now I am in charge of my own shift, working 7 days and off 7 days. I still work part-time for Helen Keller Ambulance. I am very active in the Emergency Management Agency, as well. I also find time to volunteer with the Cherokee Fire Department and Cherokee Rescue Squad.
