Michael's Story
Susan & I retired from teaching computer classes at Umpqua Community College in 2009. We visited all 50 state capitols and I have walked at least 5 miles every day for over 20 years as of April 2024. I built a wood fired bread oven and used to bake 15-20 loaves of bread every Friday...we didn't eat it all, we gave away to our neighbors and friends. Baking, traveling, making beer, and taking pictures of dragonflies are what we did for nearly 48 years...Life was very Good! We visited Egypt in the early spring of 2010 and Australia/Tasmania in the spring of 2011. Early in 2012 we took a cruise around South America's Cape Horn and then went south again in the fall to visit the Galapagos Islands and Machu Picchu. Took cruises to the Three Gorges dam in China, through the Panama Canal, and sailed around the Black...Expand for more
Sea. Stayed several weeks with friends in Italy 2014 on their 50th wedding anniversary and took a Barcelona to Bergen "shakedown cruise" on Viking's new Viking Star river/ocean ship in 2015.
I lost Susan to Cancer in 2019 and I thought I'd never have another woman in my life. But I joined a local beer club in 2020 and was fortunate to find a wonderful woman (Ronnie) who liked my beer and loved to make fruit wine. She (and dog Charlie) now share my life and my happiness...I truly have been blessed!
I've started playing the ukulele again and we Just finished (what will probably be our last international trip) on a Viking cruise up the Amazon river...60 countries visited around the world, music back in my life, and a woman (& dog) whom I love...Life still is good!
