Michael's Story

I live in New Orleans with my girlfriend and her teenage son. In 1993, I moved to Brooklyn and began a career as a community college instructor of English Composition. In 1999, I got married to a wonderful woman. Unfortunately, I was not ready for marriage and we divorced in 2006, when I returned to New Orleans. I have taken some detours teaching high school -- BIG mistake, in my case. I plan to return to college this summer in pursuit of a second MA(in English Composition). One day, I may seek the Ph.D, but I am still a lazy SOB -- if I don't HAVE to do it, I would rather not. Everyone wants to know: No, I don't have any children. I believe God gives children to those whom HE believes would make good parents, and given that I have reached 40 without any, I assume that means I would not make a good father, though I think I'm a really great crazy uncle. I play bass and keyboards and am desparately trying...Expand for more
to put together a band. Not looking for fame; just a weekend outlet for my frustrations. Just did the political thing. I'm registered as an Independent. Probably the easiest thing to label me would be "Pro - Life Democrat" -- I support most of the Democratic platform, but as a Roman Catholic, I cannot support pro - choice candidates. Having said that, I hope the Republicans nominate someone so wishy washy on the issue of life that I can vote for Sen. Obama. Of course, I wish Sen. Obama were pro - life, but then I would have the PERFECT candidate, and I will never have that kind of luck I REALLY hope we can see each other at the reunion. When I review our yearbook, I think of what I missed by not getting to know more of you better. Perhaps we will have the chance to renew old friendships and build new ones that may take us into our senior years. God Bless all of you and your families. Michael Jeter
