Michael's Story
Life
I never imagined life would be so full.
I have 7 kids (my wife Andrée and I each had 4) who range in age from 33 to 16. Two Grandkids (6 and 2). Family is what most of life is about. The oldest, Dave, is a game designer and proud papa, Sean is finishing University and Teacher's College, Hollie is happily raising eldest grandchild, Katie just started teaching French Immersion grade 2, Amy is designing databases for a courier company, David (2) is 'between' University years, and Joe is giving us fits as a rebellious teenager with a guitar.

I went to U of T, graduated in 1973 'nulla laude', and as a result of joining the University Radio Station got a job at CBC Radio which lasted 11 years. I became involved with the Union, and eventually became a full-time Union rep. I worked with CBC Union issues for 23 years, and now work with newspapers. I always imagined I'd be a high-school teacher...Expand for more
, but that's not where I am. It's a very demanding career, but I love it.

I am involved with community groups locally in Toronto, and that's almost a full-time job. We stopped the city from trying to change a hundred-odd street names, and now we're trying to stop a new railroad from destroying our heritage neighbourhood.

I have 5 siblings (most of whom went to Massey) with 10 neices and nephews. They are scattered from New York to Antigonish to Ottawa so we connect by phone and e-mail mostly. Their stories would fill this page several times over.

I reconnected with old Massey friends last summer and had a wonderful get-together with Gail Abrams (nee Moeller), her husband Steve, Liz and Dave and Helen Reade, and Joe Rubinski and his wife Maria Van Boxmeer. I've kept in touch with Joe, but getting the missing 35 years from the rest is a work in progress.
