Michael's Story

Well... O.K. I keep getting e-mails to do the Classmates thing so I decided to gitter done. So here is the skinny on life to date as of early 2008. Grew up in San Diego through the start of 11th grade. Into playing guitar and partying as a kid. Then my mother remarried and moved us to Texas. Major culture shock but probably good thing for life as perspectives changed. Still did the music thing through H.S and went ahead and did the college thing. Still enjoyed the party life but did get my Bachelors Degree in Business from Angelo State. Also met my future wife during undergrad work. Started my work career in pharmaceuticals after college in San Antonio and over the last 20 years in the industry have moved around the country to Fresno, CA, Seattle, San Francisco and then eventually to my home for the last 10 years in Austin. Still doing the pill thing for a living. Currently, I have been married to Kim for 16 years, great wife and mother to our two boys ... Stephen 12 and Phillip 11. Also have another son Terry 23. Currently serving in the Marines. Got a little bored with just working and stuff so went ahead and earned my Masters ( MBA) a few years ago. Somewhat amazing as I hate to read and study but go figure? Kim and I enjoy to travel whe we can. We love Paris and Europe in general. Recently we have been doing the Caribbean thing as flights are not as long but we will be making a trip to Finland in June... Company perk. lot and wakeboarding/skiing. Recently we, as a family, took up paintball. Lots of fun. we try to stay on the same team. I still try to keep in touch with folks from life as best as possible. Somewhat difficult with life being busy ect... Did have Bill Baum come out to the lake for a W/E recently. It was good to get together. Still touch base with Tony Nobles ocassionally. He lives in Wimberly ... about 30 Miles away but sometimes that seems like a ways away. My funny story from the Colorado City days was when Bill Baum as I were driving in the boonies at night drinking beer and stuff and Bill high centered his little pick-up on a country road. We coudn't get it freed up so we decided to walk to KVMC radio station a mile or two away as we could see the tower lights. Being in West Texas we had to make the bee line through cotton fields ect... Unfortunately, I did not have any shoes. I begged Bill to at least give me his socks for the walk, but he wouldn't give them to me! I had sores all over my feet from that trek. Bill and I still laugh about it to this day. So thats about it for now. Life is what it is. The good , bad and ugly... Most of mine has for the most part been pretty good. For most folks they probably wouldn't have figured I would end up as a professional business person versus playing guitar and partying but life happens. I plan on continuing to do what I do for the time being and possibly teaching undergrad college business course when things slow down in 15 years or so....
