Michael's Story
Life
My name is Michael Whalen and I live in Elon, North Carolina, which is a community between Greensboro and Durham. My wife is a stay-at-home mom who takes care of our son, Christian, who is turning 12 this fall. We've been happily married for going on 13 years.
I grew up all over the United States. I was born in Kentucky and have lived in Ohio, Colorado (two communities), California, and North Carolina (three communities).
After graduating from UCLA -University of Cullowhee Left of Ashville, lol, (which is actually Western Carolina University in Cullowhee, North Carolina) with a Bachelor of Science degree, I worked for the university for about a year as a controller. During my college tenure, I was general manager of the campus radio station for four years and became president of the Delta Chi fraternity.

rporation of America. I'm currently the Director of Financial Reporting, Revenue & Reimbursement Analysis, Medicaid Operations, Medicaid Analysis, Policy Analysis. My other responsibilities include Credit Balances & Refunds department.
I was nominated for Laboratorian of the Year in 2001 and 2002 and nominated for the ChairmanÂs Award in 2001 and 2002. I was awarded the ChairmanÂs Award in 2004, of which only 15 people out of 26,000 receive the recognition each year.
I received my MasterÂs in Business Administration in February 2004 from the University of Phoenix and continue to be involved in campus focus groups. I am active in our local church, the local Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation and I volunteer for Loves & Fishes, which is a Christian food ministry. In my spare time, I enjoy reading about American history, playing a few rounds of golf, and spending time with my family.
