Michael's Story

Life Life.. A lot can be said there. I was nearly married on 3 different occasions before finally finding the right woman. Tanya and I met through a mutual friend and decided to marry after 2 years of dating. It has been an interesting 10 years as Tanya was born and raised in Ukraine and all of her family is still there (and has no desire to come to the USA). In January of 2003, our daughter, Elizabeth was born 100 days prematurely. Elizabeth Michelle entered this world weighing just 1 pound 14 ounces and probably took 10 years off her Dad's life. Those first few month of Elizabeth's life were rough on all of us as we never knew what to expect. Elizabeth spent 80 days in Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at Miller's Children Hospital in Long Beach and we thank god every day that she came out of it without any health issues. Shortly after Elizabeth was released from the hospital (April of 2003), the family packed their bags and headed for Northern Minnesota where Tanya had accepted a job for Immigration Service (Customs and Border Protection today). It was a hard move on all of us to make as we loved California but down deep we knew it was one that had to be made. In September of 2004, Nicholas Michael entered this world as scheduled and without any problems. The family just returned from a month long vacation in Eastern Europe where Elizabeth and Nicholas finally had the opportunity to meet their Grandpa (who sadly passed away on March 31st at the age of 56) Grandma and Great Grandmother. I have to say 35 days in Eastern Europe is a very interesting experience while I did spend 90+ days there in 1996 when Tanya and I first were married, doing it with 2 toddlers is a whole 'nother experience. School I was never very popular in school and just never seem to fit in. A lot of times, I was the butt of many jokes due to my handicap and associating with me was like having the plague. s in Junior High and High School but being shy, I never made it known. Some of my biggest crushes were with Susan Henderson (she moved to Sierra Vista while in Junior High) and Michelle Wallum. I was finally able to find friends outside of the kids I grew up with but just as I started to come out of my shell, we moved to Southern California where I never really did get to associate with others again. The memory that will always live with me from School happened during Junior High. During 1st period wood shop, a group of us decided we were going to ditch the rest of the day. It wasn't enough that one of the group decided prior to ditching that he could not take part without calling his mother and getting permission but while running around the neighborhood, the wood shop teacher spotted us and created a stir for us upon our return. Workplace I have held my share of jobs since High School. I think it was always figured that I would go to work in the family business (Glass & Mirror) but that changed during my year when the company went bankrupt (Embezzlement). Some of my favorite jobs included being a floor manager for a struggling low power TV station in Los Angeles and that as a Technical Adviser to a Syndicated TV show, "Computer Doctor". I also have owned my own small business (A UPS store type operation) which I sold in 1997 when I accepted a Job with Xerox Corporation. Xerox was one of the few I loved but sadly that came to an end in 2003 when the company dissolved my organization and everyone with it. More recently, Much has changed since then, we have moved twice. First to Northern Minnesota where we lived on a lake for 5 years in Northern Minnesota to where we are today, in a suburb about 45 minutes away from Atlanta, I have left the technology sector for the most part and am now an Enrolled Tax Agent and am still married to the same beautiful lady for nearly 25 years and have 3 wonderful kids.
