I went to Hazel Fisher starting in 68 through 71. K-teacher was Ms. Montgomery, 1st- was old lady Johnson, 2nd-dont' remember the name, but she was nice, 3rd-Mr. Kline. During 1st grade we had a classmate that fell through the ice on the log pond while riding his bike, and was found the next day under the ice by the spill way. The principle informed the whole school over the intercom, and encouraged everyone to include the family in their prayers that night. I think his name was Joseph. I was there when the school was located at the first corner as you come into White Pines. Just beyond where the outdoor basketball court was the community center was located, at the bottom of 2nd I believe. Beyond that was Woods grocery store, where we would always go after school and get a bunch of penny candy from the jar, or a .10cent candy bar. The lake had just been made below the old log pond and spillway a year or two before. I went fishing there and accidentally on purpose fell in almost every time. I had my first mini bike when I was 6 and rode it all over the American forest land between White Pines and Highway 4. My dad and I would pack in between 12-18 cord of wood a year into our woodshed, because old drafty fireplaces were all that we had in the houses we lived in.
