Michel's Story

Life Briefly (?) - Born in Montréal 1966. Lived peacefully and freely in Pointe-aux-Trembles in a rural area, next to the St-Laurence River until 1972. Parents divorced in 1972. Moved to Beaconsfield , Québec in 1976 'till 1980. Left for Edmonton, Alberta in 1981. Went on Canada World Youth program in New-Brunswick and Jamaica in 1984-85. Came back to Edmonton and decided to leave home and move to Montréal. In Montréal 1985, no job, no money, joined the army as medic and started University at Concordia. Was in and out of school 1988 through 1994, worked for the army reserve a lot. 1994 got my license as an EMT and worked in the lower Laurencians un till 2004. Moved from Montréal to Sainte-Anne-des-Plaines in 1988. Had a nice place on a lake. I met Laurence in 1988 in Mont-Tremblant. Moved to Piedmont in 1989 and Laurence moved in with me in 2000. Finished university part time 2000-2004. Laurence decided to quit her lab tech job and go back to school in 2001, so we moved to Chicoutimi. Her studies were disapoiting and we came back to Montréal in december 2001. Went back to work as an EMT in the Lower Laurencians. 2005 got a job in quality improvement for prehospital services in Baie-Comeau, Québec for the provincial government. Meanwhile got a certificate in adult education and I'm doing a Masters in Public Health at present. es. Got a job as a meteorological tech in 1990 and studied Environment Canada's Meteorology training center in Cornwall Ontario. Job fell through and went back to Montréal. Did a certificate in PC repair at Teccart Institute in 1993-94 and then took the challenge exams for the EMT program. Passed and started working as an EMT. Took courses in emergency Management at College Ahuntsic. Horticulture at College d'Alfred. Finally decided to finish my B.Sc. at distance with Excelsior College in Albany, New-York. Have completed a certificate in Adult education at U of Manitoba. Am now doing Masters in Public Health at U of London. Workplace First job as "counselor in training" for City of Beaconsfield , I was 13. Bus boy at Cucci's in Edmonton at 14. Electronics sales at "Tops in Toys" in Edmonton, sold Ataris at 15. Worked construction at 16 and 17. Did volunteer work on potatoe farm in Grand-Sault New Brunswick and at the Clarendon Parish Library in May Pen Jamaica at 18. Joined the army reserve as a medic at 18. Became a civilian paramedic at 29. Taught paramedics and nurses. Became a health services bureaucrat at 39, still teach and I'm still in the army reserve as a medical admninistration officer. Military Boot camp in 1985 at 51 Med Coy and in Farnham. QL3 medical same year. QL4 médical in 1986, worked at the mess in Farnham as barman that summer. 1987 Junior leader's course in Valcartier and started as instructor on QL3 in Farnham. 1988 through 1994 taught all reserve medical courses in fanham, Borden and Saint-Jean. 1993-94 went on tour in Croatia and Bosnia UNPROFOR. Left the army from 1996-2000, was a warrant officer then. Re-elisted in 2000, was given corporals and adjusted to seargent within a year. Commissionned in 2005 as lieutenant. Now work with Les Fusiliers du Saint-Laurent.
