Michelle's Story

I'll start by explaining my name change. During my childhood I went by my middle name. That is what most of my high school friends remember as, Michelle Alford. When I was in foster care, my last year I attended Walton, I had lived with Michelle Mitchell (who I'd like to reconnect with btw, if anyone knows how to reach her) and her parents, so they began to call me by my first name, Pam, to reduce confusion. Also, the guy I was seeing at the time had an ex named Michelle and preferred Pam as well. That is when I began to go by my first name. As an adult I needed to get my birth certificate to handle some personal business And discovered my name was spelled Pamelia Michell on my birth certificate. Don't ask me why because I don't know, LOL. Nevertheless, I kinda liked it and made the corrections on my personal documents. So, if anyone out their has had difficulty locating me, that would be the reason why. And, when my signatures are spelled Pamelia Michell, it is not an error, it is a correction. Too funny. Since high school, I've done life just like everyone else, but when it's all said and done, I have to say I'm very blessed. I have 4 children, I've lived in the most common states (Florida, California, and New York), and I've got a great family. Everybody has their obstacles in life, but for me life is getting better with age. Life doesn't always turn out the way you expect. What's been your biggest surprise? My biggest one was my father passing away December of 2009. I hadn't seen my family for 17 years and had to go home and bury my father. The other biggest ones are realizing how difficult it is to raise children/instill good morals and values in them, and maintain...Expand for more
a healthy marriage. It's hard work, but well worth it!!! If I could reconnect with any of my teachers from high school, I think it would be my biology teacher, but I cannot remember his name. I know it began with B. He had red hair, but kept it very short and wore glasses. I also liked Ms. Butts. Does anyone remember when that one kid beat the snot out of Mr. Farr for getting in his face and poking him in the chest? Well, got a couple of hard punches in before he was pulled off, lol. If you got one do-over. What do you do differently? I know everyone has asked themselves this question. As for me, I'd appreciate the people I love and have more respect for myself. That is why I said life gets better with age. I've gotten better at those two things and it gets me much further, but doesn't restore my losses from past burnt bridges. Very humbling. Recently I've reconnected with quite a few people via facebook. I love it. The latest one is my mother's side of the family. Anyone who knew me well knows I never knew my mother/interacted with my mother's side very little. I've also reconnected with friends of the family that kinda took me in a couple of times when I was growing up and made me their own. They gave me my spiritual foundation, so that was very special and heartwarming. Who have any of you reconnected with via social networks and how has it effected you? And btw, not all reconnections are positive. I try to keep my stuff clean nowadays being a stay at home mom (SAHM), but you guys have got to google the facebook song, it's on youtube. Hilarious!!!!!!!!! In 10 years I hope to be in my dream home with my family. I have everything else that I need and blessed in it.
