Michelle's Story
Life
Hate to write these types of things. I am a proud 'single' mom of just one son, Christopher. He is a super kid, and to put up with me, he has to be a great kid.
You could say that life didn't take me in the direction that I thought it would, but I always seem to brush myself off and try harder.
After school, I was bit by the tourism bug and worked in Vancouver hotels in operations/front office/concierge for over 15 years. I became tired of the New Yorkers and their lame gold everything, and quit my job, went back to BCIT for a couple of years. It was wierd being in school with teenagers, and me, 30-something. Still working on the degree, but that will come.
After BCIT, I land...Expand for more
ed with my present company, as an event/incentive travel planner. I love what I do, but it does take loads of time and focus. I travel as far as Whistler (exciting, non?) and Vancouver Island. I do have many opportunities to try new and exciting things locally. I sit on the board for a local events organization, and try and stay in tune, but really it just keeps me busy! What's next, not sure, maybe something that lets me do things at a slower pace and enjoy my friends and family more.
Chris and I love to travel, but travelling with children is a challenge - so we do the usual, Disney and Cruises, haven't tried a Disney Cruise yet though! Hmmm, something to think about.
