Left home at 17 due to circumstances there. Joined military for training in photography at 18 - (couldn't afford college.) Military recruiter didn't know females needed a written guarantee, and the Viet Nam war was going on, so I didn't get the training I'd joined for. Worked at Overseas Replacement Center. Was attacked in own bed in barracks at 2:30 AM in by an unknown male soldier scheduled to leave for Viet Nam. There were no guards on the WAC building. I was blamed. I left.
Degree from City College in San Francisco. Sciences.
I'm as far out of the city as can get - next to the Pacific Ocean. Am NOT a city person. This is where I live, but it's not 'home.' I am country to the core.
Worked for ATF, in Internal Affairs and as a Technical Specialist. Forced to retire early due to...Expand for more
centralization of office to Cincinatti, Ohio. (If we didn't go, we were terminated.) Retirement benefits lost as a result.
Resumed taking college courses - photography and library science.
Helped to get books, educational videos, and supplies to struggling schools in remote areas. Also got books and videos and supplies for small rural libraries. Worked to help Native Americans on three different reservations through groups and individual effort. Most recently have been working with the Yurok tribe in California. They are a progressive tribe who recently have been focusing on restoring condors, and getting dams torn down and salmon restored.

Anniston, Alabama. (Basic and AIT)
Fort Lewis, WA. (Duty Station)
Port Charolotte, Florida

Love hummingbirds, Monarch butterflies, pollinators, gardening, photography, genealogy and DNA research. Music heals my soul and lifts my spirit.
Favorite quotes/Isms:
Don't walk in front of me. I may not follow. Don't walk behind me, I may not lead. Just walk beside me - and be my friend.
We have but one planet - there is none to spare.
Character is defined by actions.
Agree to disagree.
The only constant is change.
Don't judge a book by its cover.
Be the change you want to see.
Teamwork makes the dream work.
Actions speak louder than words.
