Michelle's Story
Even though I quit highschool 2 months before graduation, 3 years later I went to NorthWest Community College and took the GED. I scored extremely high---surprisingly since I had not done any studying--and was awarded the Howard Carpenter GED Scholarship that paid my tuition/dorm to attend NWCC. I attended, was a double major (Management Information Systems and Information Technology for Business), and began working for the IRS in Memphis in March, 1997. yrs, and Manager within the IRS for 7 years, but left management to pursue computers, and I took a job (still for the IRS) in Andover, Massachussetts in Jan. 2007 as a Computer Assistant. I have now accepted another promotion, and am now a computer programmer (IT Specialist/System Analyst) for the IRS National office Washington, D.C.
