Life
Believe it or not...I did leave Port Townsend and came back voluntarily. I ran away 3000 miles to Maine with my life saver, Ralph Hanscom, when I was 16 and that is why you will find my senior picture in the Bucksport Maine Yearbook and not the Port Townsend Washington Yearbook even though I did graduate from Port Townsend. I am currently contemplating WHY am I in Port Townsend and am exploring the map to see what interests me. My 19 year old son Kavin from my first marriage to Ralph died of an accidental methadone overdose on 8/23/09. This has to be the most excruciating thing any parent will ever have to deal with. My heart has been broken in more pieces than are countable. The hardest thing about this is we made it through all those younger years when you would expect your teenager to probably experiment with drugs and/or alcohol. He never touched any of it. He held interventions for his friends who used. He was amazing. When he was 19 years 5 months old he moved out of my house to live with his girl friend and during this short term relationship he started drinking and smoking pot. and hanging out with a new group of friends introduced to him by a so called friend. In 3 weeks he experimented with ecstasy, pot, alcohol, shrooms, pain pills and methadone. On August 23, 2009 he took 4 hits of methadone, his anti-depressant and 4 shots of vodka, told all of his friends how much he loved them and laid down. He died approximately 2 hours later in the back set of his best friends car as they pulled into the entrance of the hospital. This was the absolute worst day/night of my entire life. I have a 10 year old daugther Zoe from my second marriage to David Moore from Grants Pass Oregon. I am busy raising my my daughter, working and just living life. For those of you that really know me things have been pretty hard lately as my brother, Dave, and I sat by my mom's side at Swedish Hospital and watched her pass after 12 days in the hospital on 2/11/09. The saddest thing was until then we didn't even know she was sick. I have to admit that my life has been a little off center since then. Everyone says it will get better and easier but as you know...they can't tell you when and until then...it is just 1 day at a time. If you want to know more about me just ask!
