Michelle's Story
Life
I was born on 6/8/55 in Salem, OR. Lived in Sublimity, OR and went to grade school at St. Boniface Catholic School until 5th grade. At that time Sublimity was a very small town in which most of the residents were related in one way or another to my family(or so it seemed). My grandfather(James Ripp) was our mail carrier. My family moved to Stayton, OR where I went to St. Mary's Catholic school for the sixth grade and then transferred to Stayton grade school for 7th & 8th grade. My dad's parent owned the Sandberg Grocery in Stayton on 6th street. Their house and store was across the street from St. Mary's School.
My dad worked for Pacific Power and was transferred to Kalispell, MT. in 1969. I had a fit as I wanted to stay in Stayton and go to high school with all my friends. BUT.......we moved and I went to high school at Flatheah High from 69-73.
I met my first husband(Darrel Mackaman) during my senior year and we were married in April of 73. My husband rejoined the Navy in the spring of 74 and we moved from MT to California(Long Beach & San Diego) and then spent 6 months in Illinois and back to San Diego. Our first child, Heather was born on May 10. 1975 ...Expand for more
in San Diego. Our second child, Jason, was born on July 22, 1978 in Vancouver, WA as my husband had been transferred with the Navy to Portland, OR. We divorced in November 1983.
I met and married my current husband, John, in Vancouver, WA on Dec 28, 1984. John had two daughters from a previous marriage so together we have four children. We also have 13 grandchildren ranging in age from 13 to 2 years. Grandkids are the best!!!
My husband and I love to spend time at the Beach and taking cruises. Our first cruise was for 14 days and we went through the Panama Canal. It's an incredible thing, especially when you think about how they built it.
When I worked for Hewlett-Packard I was able to do some traveling for business purposes. My favorite destination was Singapore. It's hot and muggy but awesome. Had the best seafood ever while there. Even had my picture taken with a "pink" dolphin.......for real!!!! Would like to go back as just a tourist next time. So much I didn't get the chance to see.
My dad moved back to Sublimity so I get to the area quite often. My sister, Brenda still lives in Kalispell, MT. Maybe I'll see some of my old classmates sometime.........
