Michelle's Story
Life
Hi Class of 1969,
How the heck are all of you? I can hardly believe it has been almost 40 years since we left the halllowed halls of Arroyo High School. I made plans and God laughed. I like my life very much but it certainly is not the one I planned. I have a degree in Education, but the State of California doesn't have enough money to make me go back into a classroom. I have owned a New/Used bookstore in the San Gabriel Valley for over 25 years and it truly is my calling. I was the Romance Writers National Bookseller of the Year a few years ago and I'm active with the local chapter of RWA in Orange County. I am their bookseller as well as being on their board of directors for many years. I dabble a writing, but it's way to hard to do if you don't have that"fire in your belly" and I dont. I volunteer as a docent at a local museum and help a good friend of mine with a whale watch group. I love to travel, but never have the time when I have the money or the money when I have the time. My older sister lives with me and is poor health so I spend a great deal of time in Dr. offices and in hospitals rooms, but what can you do, she's family. I have been divorced for alot longer than I was married and I don't think I'll ever do that again. I was never blessesd with children but I have my sisters grandkids and their kids. I have a brand new great-great neice (2-24-07) named Penny. I have way too many cats and I foster kittens for the Amanda Foundation. I still ride horses, I just don't own any right now. A friend of mine has a stable and there's always a horse to be exercised. I'd love to hear from any of you who are out there in cyberspace. ead ( the name is play on the fact that I have been collecting teddy bears for about, forever) I'm updating this right after the 40th reunion. In 2007 I closed my brick and mortor store(People buy books out of thin air with the kindle and Amazon and the Big Box stores are driving the Independent bookstores out of business almost daily. It was so great to see all of you who came to the Reunion. I love that the Men still called us "Girls". You can email me through classmates or call me on my cell (909)720-6226
Always,
Micki (although now I have finally grown up into being a Michelle, who would have thunk)
P.S. I really would LOVE to hear from you.
💝💖❤️ It’s now 2017 and I remarried in 2011 to a lovely man named Jack. We are in the process of moving to Maui, Hawaii. We have a condo on Maalela Bay. I love it there. It’s laid back, warm and beautiful . If you’re ever on Maui ,give me a call. Aloha🌺🌈🌴
It's now September 2022 and I'm still here. I am here on Maui and still loving it. We went to the 2019 reunion in Temecula and it was lovely. Jack says he never going back to the mainland ever again. If the Dodger's are in the World Series this year, I'm coming to see them. Go Dodgers ⚾️💙⚾️💙⚾️💙 We are going to remodel our kitchen and wall paper our bedroom. A few people have come over to see me and were welcome. I love showing off my piece of paradise. I look in the mirror and wonder who is that old lady standing in front of me in the mirror. In my mind I'm still young and able to do anything but the truth is I've slowed down, I have aged and I really don't like it. All the touchstones of my life are almost all gone and I miss those in my life, who knew me then. Aloha from Maui 🐠🌴🌺😎🌈🍍🐳
