Mickey (Mike)'s Story
On December 30, 2005, after forty eight years of marriage to one of the sweetest spirits on the planet, Betty Jean passed away during routine heart surgery
at St. Joseph Hospital in Atlanta.
We have three children, ten grand children and two
great grandchildren, Ava and Ellie Gwen. It is amazing
to see my two girls carry the one who once carried
them.........Betty Jean would be very proud.
I retired from Bergen Brunswig Drug Co. in 04, and
soon after had an offer to manage a retail pharmacy.
I accepted, thinking I would work, maybe one or two
years. The job has been a blessing, keeping me
busy and doing something that feels like a perfect
fit at this time in my life.
I was introduced to Betty...Expand for more
Jean in 1955 at the Kirkwood Theater, by a friend and classmate
from Kirkwood Elementry, Brenda Alford. Brenda
had known Betty for about a year before that
introduction. A year after Betty's death, Brenda
and I began to e mail. Brenda's husband, Diddy
Osborne, passed away in February 05. I had
not seen Brenda in over forty five years...........
amazing.............small world!
I have been in touch with Ann Dewberry Vitala,
Jerry Wallace, Jeannie Morris Mullins, Jessie Ellen Rimer Riggs, Jimmy Rucker and others and hope
to hear from you, hopefully sooner, we're not
getting any younger.
