Life Eventhough I may have appeared in HS and college to have it all going for me...success in theatre, etc., I wrestled with meaning and purpose. Sure the applause and curtain calls and awards were great, but they were hollow at the end of the day. Then, on Oct 8, 1977, I ended up in a hospital ER room with little hope of survival. In an alcoholic coma, I had taken a serious fall, and wasn't expected to live. Later that night, the surgeon who'd worked on me in the ER came by, asked me if I knew where I was, and then said this: "Young man, there's no earthly reason that you're alive tonight. I tried to save you, but I didn't do it. Somebody else did it, and I'd suggest you find out Who that was and why." Then he walked out of the room. That night, in the darkness of that hospital room, I cried out to a God I did not really know, thanking Him for another chance at life, and asking Him to reveal why.
