Mike's Story
Life
Life's been pretty good. I have three great kids who have made me very proud over the years. Michael's 29 and has his own business, Kristen 25 (my little princess) graduated from Temple two years ago (made the National Honor Society) with a teaching degree is teaching in Philadelphia (temporarally, it's a zoo down there) is married to a great guy, Anthony (one of my former wrestlers) who is in business with my son Michael and Jonathin 24 who is attending college now. Both Michael and Jonathin turned out to be very good wrestlers with Jonathin winning a medal at states his sophmore year and Michael just missing a trip by one match. Unfortunately due to injuries Jonathin never made it back. Michael just competed in the Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu World Championships in California. (sigh, he lost) Kristen was a cheerleader who came back to become the teams coach. I think the thing I'm most proud of is a comment someone once made, they said "the best thing about all your kids is their so polite and respectful to everyone". That was one thing I "demanded" from all my wrestlers to. I was fortunate enough to get back into wrestling, my first love after God and my children and coa...Expand for more
ch for about 20 years. It was one of the best times of my life. I enjoy working with kids so much, seeing them progress in wrestling but most important seeing them become good and productive adults. It really made all those hours worthwile.
I coached at Woodrow Wilson, Harry S Truman and Bristol High School's. I also coach a club where we one 25 Championships in 11 years. If it wasn't for my terrific assistant coaches I never would have achivied that goal. Before we took over, the team hadn't won a championship in it's 25 year existance. I had over 500 AAU District, 330 Regional, and 25 National Medalists with 20 National Champions. I was also fortunate to have coached my son's for 16 years. Was inducted into two "Hall of Fames" for wrestling, again because of my great asst. coaches and all my dedicated wrestlers. Did some traveling to the west coast and down south over the years. Spent a week in New Orleans two years ago as a volenteer helping to clean up after all that mess. Probably going to go down again soon if I get the time. Now I'm just looking forward to enjoying the future with my children and grandchildren. Hopefully someone else, but that's another story. LOL
