Mike's Story

Life Born in Omaha, Ne on November 24, 1965. Grew up in the Benson area. I was fascinated by music at an early age which probably explains why I ended up in radio. In fact, I knew what I was going to be when I was six!. Graduating from Tech in 1984, I went on to study broadcast production at the University of Nebraska at Omaha. I have been employed by the Omaha Public School District since 1988 working as the Music Director, producer and host at KIOS FM 91.5. at the old Tech building! I currently host "Blues in the Afternoon" which airs on Mondays from 1:00-3:00PM. I also host jazz on Wednesdays and Fridays at the same time. I have also worked at KKCD 105.9 doing the overnight weekend shift playing classic rock for two years from 1993-1995. My on-air name was "Mike Taylor". I also worked an evening shift at KFAB for a time in 1996. I live near the 50th ...Expand for more
and Grover area in Omaha and enjoy studying the music and history of jazz and blues. I also like going to concerts, movies and sporting events and enjoy travelling and spending time with family & friends.. When the mood hits, I do a bit of writing for pleasure. Used book stores are a favorite haunt. Environmental and social justice issues are a passion of mine .I attend the Indy 500 every year too. That's been an annual trip since 1981. Life has been interesting so far. I have experienced the usual ups and downs everyone goes through. Professionally, things worked out as I has envisioned, although it took longer than I expected to get there. So, I'm looking forward again to connecting with people from my years attending Monroe Jr. High from 1978-81, Tech High from 81-84 and friends who went to Benson High who I grew up with. Hope you are all doing well.
