Mike's Story
Life
After High School Graduation, I spent the better part of the next 7 years at Texas Wesleyan University. I finally graduated in 91 with my Bachelor of Music Education degree. I also met my wife, Cindy, there.
I was originally going to be a Baptist music minister. But as I went through my college career, and various job changes, I decided that teaching is where my life would be best served.
I tried to get a job as a band director in Birdville, HEB, or Grapevine, but you can't without experience. I finally landed a position with a private school in Euless called Treetops International School. There I got to start a band program from scratch! I currently have 40 students in the program with another 20 to 30 new beginners this fall.
The school is no longer private. We changed to be a charter school (public now, but not part of any district) and went from 86 students to over 300 in 5 years (...Expand for more

I then became, not only, the band director, but I am also the computer teacher and the High School Coordinator (basically the Principal).
After a year teaching at Winfree Academy, I then became the Director of Music at Southwest Christan School in Fort Worth. I was in charge of developing and directing the choir, band and strings program in the middle school and high school.
I am now starting a new job as the technology education teacher for the 7th grade at Irma Marsh Middle School in Castleberry ISD. I am also in my second year of working on my Masters of Education, online, at ACU.
My wife, Cindy, of 18 years now, has taught for 12 years in Birdville, 3 at Treetops, 2 in Little Elm and now is teaching in Grapevine.
I have a 7th grade son and a 3rd grade daughter.
We all currently attend St. Stephen's Episcopal Church in Hurst where I am the music director.
