Mike's Story
Life
After High School I attended United Electronics Institute for two years and then got a job with Magnavox in Fort Wayne,Ind. I got drafted 6 months later. I served in the army and spent time in Nam where I was wounded. Finished the rest of my two years in Fort Hood,Texas. After seperation from army went back to Magnavox. I met my wife in South Bend,she is a Riley H.S. graduate. We have two girls and two grandaughters and grandson.After working at Magnvox for 28 years was layed off in 1996. Came to Florida where my Brother and Sister live and started my Pool Service business I run now. My Brother Pat owns a successful Swimmimg Pool Company ( Landmark Pools). My Sister Sandy is a district manager for the John Morrell Company. We now all live about 30 minutes away from each other.
Workplace
I was hired by Magnavox...Expand for more
in 1968 after Tech School. I worked as a troubleshooter for six months then was drafted into the army after returning went back to Magnavox and worked a total of 13 years as a troubleshoter and was promoted to supervisor. In 1996 was layed off. I miss the work and especially the people I worked with thats one of the reasons for joining Classmates.
Military
I was trained in Fort Polk,Louisiana and sent to Nam in May of 1969. I was wounded 4 months later had a bullet 1 sixteenth of an inch from my heart.(LUCKY) Went to Kamp Zama,Japan where they operated and took the bullet out. From there to Valley Forge Hospital for evaluation and then served the rest of my two years at Fort Hood Texas. The two people I would like to find are Julio Diaz and Ross. Ross & I were friends at Fort Hood. Juju & I were buddies in the Nam.
