Mike's Story
I have 3 kids and a grandson. I live in a small place near my what I used to call my second home, work. Los Alamitos, CA.
I used to jump on my Harley and cruise to the beach (PCH) and back almost daily. But as of April 2008, I was punted off my Harley riding home from work. A young driver leaving the parking lot of his high school collided into me. He was driving a full size truck. He won! I lost my bike but I'm alive. I miss my Harley dearly. I almost made it to Sturgis. I do not know if I will ride again yet. But I still want a Harley.
I will always remember my high school years. Each time I look at my annual I can say I miss the entire place and everyone in it.
The guys, girls who played sports and those who were close and special to me, made being at the Ranch lots of fun.
In sports I was a gymnast. That was a year round sport which always kept me busy and me out of trouble. Going to practice was like going to play. It was so much fun. As a sophomore I would tease several of my wrestling buddies. Then run for my life...Expand for more
. They were all a bunch of cool dudes. Their coach, Mr. Alvarado, always welcomed to wrestle with them during their practices. Mr. Alvarado was a dear friend and my neighbor. A wrestler, Rick, was a Long Beach cop whom I run into time to time since our cities neighbor each other. He had a partner that was shot and killed. I hope Rick is doing better.
College, I attended, Rio Hondo JC, Cerritos College and Long Beach City. I had some fun classes but there is the science class I still have to make up. Long Beach City had a great photography class.
Career, just say I still do what I do, everything. I do miss the Marines. I miss the cop thing. Well the wives are gone and the dogs are dead. Children all grown up except for my youngest. I am learning from my youngest and seeing life through the eyes of my Grandson JD.
Now days I teach ground school for flyers and fly here and there out of Long Beach Airport.
