Mike Walker:  

Life After high school graduation, I enlisted in the United States Army Reserve and completed basic and advanced individual training at Ft. Leonard Wood, Missouri. I received an honorable discharge after six years of service. I enrolled at the University of Tennessee at Knoxville in January 1982, and graduated in March 1986, with a B.S. in Food Technology and Science. While at UT, I was an active member of Alpha Gamma Rho fraternity. I earned a Master's in Business Administration from Campbell University, Buies Creek, NC, in 1998. I have worked the past twenty-two years in the meat and poultry industry, in Operations and Research and Development(R&D). My stops have included Prairie Grove, AR, Albemarle, NC, Newberry, SC, Harrisonburg, VA (twice), Mt. Olive, NC, and now, Elberton, GA,where I am a Director of R&D for Pilgrim's Pride Corporation. I married the former Martha Sarratt Whitener of Union, SC, in Union on December 29, 1990. We have two sons, William Jackson Whitener (Will) Walker, born September 26, 1993, and George Reid Walker. Reid was born on February 18, 1997. Our activities center around the athletic and academic pursuits of our sons.
