mike's Story

In 1966 I started working at Wisconsin Centrifugal/Metaltek in Waukesha, Wisconsin in order to go to school and to pay bills. In 1971 I married my wonderful wife Kay. I followed that up by graduating from UW-Milwaukee in 1972. In 1976 we had our first child Henry. (You can see him on the Wisconsin Trout Unlimited blog). In 1978 we had our daughter Emily. They were into band, soccer, basketball, football, swimming, track, etc. We followed them all over with their different activities. They both had interesting college careers. Henry went to William and Mary (Virginia) and Marquette. He was made a partner in his law firm several years ago. Emily received a basketball scholarship at Cardinal Stritch University in Milwaukee. She also received her masters degree several years later. She teaches in the Lake Geneva school system. My wife received her bachelor and masters degrees from UW-Milwaukee. She is a great school librarian. I am amazed everyday with all the ...Expand for more
work she does to make her library one of the best. At WC/Metaltek, I worked in Production Control, Manufacturing Engineering, and Quality Control at for the next 37 years. I retired at 55 years old when my wife received a career change by being employed as a librarian up north. I figured 37 years was enough at one place. I followed that up by working at Menards, Home Depot, and Dr. Foster and Smith. Also, I was a life insurance salesman for Catholic Knights/Financial for 2 years. This was to say I had more than just one employer! We are now grandparents to three wonderful children. Two beautiful girls from my son and a very handsome son from my daughter. They keep us busy whenever we get down to Brookfield and Elkhorn respectively. They are the light of my life! Right now I am busy with driving vets up to Iron Mountain, Michigan and delivering meals on wheels. There is also the possibility of being involved with a local candidate for office. Mike Koltz
