Missy's Story
Life
I live in a too small town just west of Madison. Let me tell you, if you don't know what you're doing around here, somebody else always does. I try to get to Fort to visit my family whenever I can. I just work too much lately. I'm working in a CBRF here in Cross Plains. I like assisted living and working with the elderly. It's more comfortable than working in a hospital, I get to know the residents.
I have a full, busy home. There's a 12 year old Staffordshire Terrier, Sasha, a 3 year old Chihuahua, Autumn-Rain, a 3 year old pommerian papillon mix, Pepper-Sky, a bull mastiff, Draven, 5 cats, Stinky, Echo-Moon, Lily-Flower, Una-Rose, and Mia-Lou. 24 fish, they all have names, I'm just too lazy to type and a bunny, Ziggy-Pop.
I've been fostering dogs for SSS out of Madison. It's very rewarding. I recently placed a chihuahua named 'Tater, that broke my heart. The bittersweet part about this is when you have to give them up to their new homes. I still miss my first foster, Zipper, I hope he's doing well....Expand for more
I know I adopted him out to a good home. If you're thinking about getting an animal, please check your local shelters before you look anywhere else. There are too many pets getting the big shot of death because people choose to get their animals from breeders and pet stores. Most of the dogs and cats at pet stores come from puppy mills. Remember that when you see a litter of puppies in the window. Please know that their parents are probably spending their lives in a too small, filthy cage only existing to breed to make money for the owners. When the moms are too old to breed they are usually killed in a cruel manner. Sorry for climbing on a soapbox but this is something that has always angered me, and now I have these poor 'useless' girls in my home. They have done nothing to deserve this. What surprises me most is even after they have lived in these inhumane conditions, they are so ready to forgive the humans that have abused them. They still trust us and ask for affection, surprises me, how about you?
