Moira's Story
Life
After moving from the city of St.Louis (ah! what memories), I graduated from Hazelwood High. That is where I met my husband, Greg, in Drama Class with Kathy Nail, aka Kate Capshaw better known as Mrs. Spielburg. We all had the Drama bug back then. After graduating, I attended business college and taught dance for my mother at the Alton Academy of Dance before opening my own studio in St. Charles which blossomed into 3 centers all in St Charles County. We named it American Youth Performing Arts and had been in business for over 30 yrs. I taught dance & musical theater, managed faculty, and ran our non-for-profit performance groups, and pretty much everything else to do with running a business before retiring in 2011. Now we are rather free and That freedom encouraged me to audition for my daughter's vocal group, St Louis Harmony Chorus. I am now one of 90 vocalists and choreographer. These acapella choruses (600 in the world) are in 37 countries. We've won in our region many times & have represented the midwest US at internationals in Hawaii, Seattle, Denver over the past years. We are ready to compete again shortly in Baltimore and hope to exceed our current rank of 21st in the world. I also currently Travel to judge dance competitions, teach Master Classes in dance as well as Visual Enhancement for performance groups. I enjoy anything to do with the arts and that keeps me busy most of the time. Any spare time left over, I enjoy crafts: sewing, embroidering, jewelry making. My passions other than the above are traveling & fashion (shopping!)
