Molly's Story
Life
Life is treating me well. I've changed quite a bit over the years, which is probably a good thing, but I've maintained my strong sense of family values.
I've finally found love and am happily residing in Mississippi until I can find my way back to Texas. My brother, Darren ('93) married Leslie Broyles ('96) and they have a four year old girl and a year old son. Needless to say, I'm a very proud Aunt!
I'm also very much in love with a fantastic man introduced to me by a mutual friend. Mark is the love of my life and I look forward to making many memories with him. We married July 14, 2007.
School
I moved around quite a bit as a child. By the time we finally returned to Texas, I was uncomfortable with myself and who I wanted to be. It wasn't until my junior or senior year that I finally came out of my shell and experienced many of the great things about high school life. And, hell, by the time I was in college, I was ready to go!
I'm thankful for the friends I made through Blue Belles, yearbook staff, National Honor Society, summer musicals and dancing with Caron Moore Dance Productions. I keep up with very few of these friends and am hoping to make some contacts here.
College
Ah, college-- now those were the glory days! I loved it so much that I'm still living the life. Well, kinda. It was during my first three years at Weatherford College where I fell in love with higher education and all it has to offer. It was then I realized I want to serve as a college president in the future. I began refining my leadership skills and being active in everything possible. I was Miss Weatherford College (literally-- 1998)! ha
During my many years at Texas A&M-Commerce (ETSU) I continued my social adventures while remaining on academic scholarship. It was in Commerce where I decided my purpose as a college administrator would be to teach students how to balance academics with extra-curricular affairs. (That'...Expand for more
s where all the fun is!) I joined Kappa Delta Sorority at the ripe age of 22, and am still loving every minute of it as a chapter advisor and alumnae association president in Starkville, MS.
I finished with an AA in Drama, a BS in Theatre and a MS in Higher Education Administration with 15 graduate hours in Communications from UNT. Gosh, life was/is grand!
In May 06, I completed a PhD in Community College Leadership at Mississippi State University and have chosen to stay here to work for a while.
Workplace
I finally left Pizza Place! Yeah, well-- that was several years ago. While attending Weatherford College, I worked at Pizza Place, worked on campus and taught dance for a local studio. During my undergraduate work at A&M-Commerce, I worked mostly in the theatre and for Transfer Admissions in Student Orientation. As a graduate student, I worked in Academic Advising and held a graduate assistanship in Transfer Admissions. I was also the manager of Gant Apartments- a popular complex for college students.
For three years, I was a graduate assistant at the John C. Stennis Institute of Government at Mississippi State University. Specifically, I worked with the MidSouth Community Collge Fellowship Program, which is a child of the MidSouth Partnership for Rural Community Colleges. (That's a real mouthful, huh?) Basically, I worked with community college leadership development and did some research as well. It was fun and I learned a lot. Go me!
Beginning Fall 2006, I serve as the Lead Online Instructor for Communication at Itawamba Community College in northeast Mississippi. I will teach some online courses, some traditional courses and oversee all online speech courses for the college. Yes, I moved slightly further away from home, but it allows me to further my career for an even better position when I return to Texas.
Eventually, I'd like to be a dean, vice president and finally president. How awesome!
