Monica's Story
Life
Hi. Alot has happened to me since I graduated. I got an Associate Degree in 1994 from OCC. Graduated in 1997 from Western Michigan University. I met Steve Combs again in 1995 and we got married in August, 1998. We currently live in Waterford. I worked in Rochester Hills since March, 2003 as an Accounts Receivable Clerk and stayed home when I gave birth on February 8th, 2005. I took a part time job the beginning of July to get some experience, but just started a new one end of August at the City of Auburn Hills as a Utility Billing Clerk. YEH! Stephen is working as a salesperson at Art Van Furniture on Dixie Highway in Waterford. As for children, we have a daughter who was born on April 30, 2002. Her name is Hope Elizabeth.(I also had a miscarriage in October, 1999). I gave birth to my 2nd child on February 8th, 2005. We named her Emily Rose. Hope was diagnosed with Inattentive ADHD and is on medication. Emily has an OCD called Trichotillomania where she picks and pulls everything from hair to skin to fuzz. This is along with the Speech. I gave birth to our 3rd and final child June 12, 2006. His name is Joseph Andrew Combs. He has a temper and we don't call him "junk food Joey" for nothing. imes a lunch eater, and if ever a dinner eater. My mother says I was the same way. Hope is in 1st grade in Waterford, Emily has some speech issues and is in 3 year old Head Start 4x a week 1/2 days. She gets to take the bus and she is very excited. I've had many losses in my life since I graduated, which has impacted my life greatly. (Most recently, my grandma July 27, 2008). It makes me realize how short life is. My grandpa in 1995, my baby in 1999, my grandpa in 2000, my dad in 2001, my beloved dog Scarlet in 2002 and my grandma in February 2003 almost losing my favorite uncle in the Fall of 2003 and again in 2008. We moved to a duplex in Waterford with a yard and a basement. Much better for kids. Anyway, we hope to hear from some old friends. We stay in touch with Jenni Tuohey (Siporin)nowadays. Is there anyone out there looking to get out like me? I get lonely for adult companionships, sometimes. Gas prices can be a killer, though.
School
The teacher that inspired me most was Mrs. Michelle Schultz (Psychology).
College
I lived on the pasta bar and the salad bar, at times. I actually tried mashed potatoes and gravy for the first time there and actually liked it!
Workplace
I finally got a job I enjoy and feel respected for.
