Monica's Story
Life
This June marks a year in Chandler, AZ, for us. Kait will be going into first grade and Mel is in pre-K. Time just keeps flying by for us all! It also marked a year that I've been away from of teaching; I can't believe I taught for almost 10 years. (I'm still at Pearson, see workplace bio.) Steve is on year 10 with Intel and does volunteer work with Habitat for Humanity.
In the brief spurts of spare time that come around, we live at the Y. With the facility membership, we workout, take swimming, dance, and tumbling lessons (free w/membership), and yes, I'm studying karate (Shodokan) two nights a week. Go figure! Hopefully, I'll be testing for my first belt in a couple of months.

Workplace
I work for an educational software company in Mesa, AZ as an Instructional Designer/Curriculum Specialist (K through 8th reading and math). It has been a very interesting year at Pearson Digital Learning. My current project has ended and will begin contract work in the fall for Knowledge Box. There's always something to do there. I'm not too crazy about life in a cube but I have to remind myself that the end result is a quality product that will enrich the lives of students everywhere.
