Monica's Story
I started grade school at Macomb, from there I went to Goodale and then to Denby til the last semester when my mom moved us to the West side, I graduated from Redford High in 1977. My mom married my step dad when I was 3 and he had 6 kids, my mom had three and they had Chas together. The kids that were close to my age were Sandy Hurn, Tommy Brown, (both older than me), Sherry Hurn is my little sister. The rest are Chas, Steve, Mike, Bobby (the one we just lost), Donna and Suzy. We lived on Venice on the other side of Connor in a little neighborhood that was mostly black and we were really poor. I was teased alot because my hair was hardly ever brushed because we had one hairbrush and I could never find it. Man I was happy to get my first babysitting job, it was the first thing I bought and I hid it so I would be the only one to use it. I spent most of my walk to school running my fingers through my hair just to get the knots out and was never very successful. We were also teased because we lived with the "ni^^ers" I really do not like that word. I wa...Expand for more
sn't popular at Denby or Goodale either but I survived it all. I spent most of my days at Goodale with my sister Sherry, Carmen Taglione, Jeanne Fischer Christianne Cortez (I had a crush on her brother Joaquin) and Alicia King, Alicia, are you out there??? From there we went to Denby and suffered it out. My grades were borderline but I came to school to get out of the house. There was always somthing going on there that I wanted to be no part of. At Denby I had a crush on Tim and Tom Uhl. They were twins, we thought they were soooo foxy!!!
I would love to see the Algebra teacher Mr. Meehan, he was sooooo tough on us and we could have learned alot from him had we cared....
My first crush was Donnie O'Neal. The last time I saw him he was grown and with kids of his own and still has the beautiful eyes he had back then. He's a really nice man. My sister Sherry and I looked him up and he came out to visit.
Life
Have two girls, one a single mom, one a US Marine. I'm married to a wonderful man who takes good care of me. We live in Phoenix, AZ.
