Monica's Story
Life
Hi there, I did this once before -- what happened? Well Classmates seems like a ghost town, too bad! It would be great to connect here more. I still dream about days at S.M.A., of course in most of them, I still don't have all of my homework done...; ) Lots of going up and down hallways and stairs, and bumping into all of you!
Anyhow, would love to hear from anyone who drops by. Just recently had a MoveOn.Org house party while organizing a "call for change" campaign locally and one of the women who showed up who was sooo lovely and helpful and outgoing and friendly... turns out to be a SMA sister! amazing. we had some laughs.
Anyhow, life goes on. Its gotten more complicated now, hasn't it? Now that we are part of the global village and can see what is happening around the world, and in our own neighborhood as more connected.
For those who look at my pics, no, am not gay. too bad, that would make life a lot easier!! Just lots of women friends. My guy friends apparently just aren't around when the photos are being taken.
The first shot "now" isn't really now, but a few yrs back while returning by ferry from the San Juan Islands and a workshop on using Nature connection for therapeutic benefit... Betsy was someone I met there as we camped together on the island, cooked meals together with the group and shared dreams around a fire on the beach. Betsy works and lives in Oregon, and on the side raises sheep.
The old pic, is of a week long canoe trip back country in Minnesota's Boundary waters with an old friend. We were both working together as psychotherapists in a children's clinic and decided to adventure. Diane had never been camping outside of a civilized drive up campground... so I took her out a ways further backcountry. She is n...Expand for more
ow also a busy psychotherapist in Ann Arbor as am I. I also am part time at a clinic in Southgate called the Guidance Center doing outpatient psychotherapy work with Families, teens, couples for about , gee, going on 20 yrs. now.
In my spare time I used to garden, LOL, organically, paint, do ceramics, hike/canoe etc. but in the last 2 years am more and more spending time on trying to keep my c.1860 house from falling apart, LOL. Boy oh boy! What fun. You would laugh. In my next life, I will know how to handle contractors. For all of you who are married, you lucky gals, this is why you have a husband - to deal man to man with these yahoos. (right now I am listening to the drips of water leaking into the den from the roof which was done 1.5 years ago and cost near 20k) This was the one thing I thought had been done RIGHT! LOL. But, even with all of that, I still love living in an 1860 house in a historic district. just wierd i guess!
Apparently my profile was "banned" several times as I listed my email address. Also apparently, Classmates doesn't bother to send you a notice of this fact, so you have no idea that your profile isn't up... for those of you who have profiles, take nothing for granted! : )
But life is good, so much to be grateful for.
Wondering --- has 71 given up on reunions??? Did the people who organized the last one decide it was too much work?? Anyone who knows about the mystery of this ending, please let me know. And hugs to all of my SMA sisters. 71 sisters by the way have a yahoo group up and running... many participants from our class, and occasional get togethers for dinner/conversation... its private so you'd have to send me your email address to get on. i can be reached at mkingmsw at aol dot com for that purpose.
