Monica's Story
Life
After graduating from THS, I attended Henry Ford Comm. Coll., worked full time and had a great time with my friends. But the party life can only last so long, and I met the man who would become my husband in 1990. We married in 1992 and briefly lived in Indianapolis and Flint before settling in Grand Rapids.
The Spring of 2006 finds me living in Grand Rapids, married to Frank for almost 14 years and mother of two boys, Reid and Griffin. I "retired" from work 10.5 years ago with the birth of my first child, and am a full time wife and mother. My husband has supported my decision whole-heartedly, and this is probably the hardest and most fulfilling job I've ever, or will ever have. I am amazed almost daily that my days are so full, and sometimes question my own sanity, but wouldn't trade it for anything in the world. While being active in both of my boys schools PTO's and volunteering in my community and church, I have managed to squeeze in some time doing some of the things I love ...Expand for more
as well as finding new interests such as golf. I've learned that my best club is my putter and having an adult beverage can make the rest seem not so bad! We've made some incredible friends both on the golf course and in our neighborhood and really feel a sense of community.
We love living in Grand Rapids, and really feel as if this will be our life-long home. Even though it's a little more conservative than we are, we treasure the family friendly atmosphere we've found here. It's still close enough to our families Downriver, yet they still have to call before they show up! A major bonus, I can tell you. It's a little weird because I always thought I'd live in Trenton, yet I don't really miss it.
I made it to the 15 year reunion, but still missed seeing a lot of people, as it was a small attendance. Maybe at the 20 I'll be able to catch up with more of my classmates, find out what's been happening in their lives as well. I wish everyone from the Class of '88, peace and good health.
