Monica's Story
Monica is from Sheboygan, Wisconsin. Monica is married. Monica's schools include South High School Class of 1982 and HHH Job Corps Center in St. Paul, MN, from 1984-1985.
I stayed on in St. Paul working at First Bank and then at Boise Cascade until Summer 1987 and then moved back to Sheboygan, Since then, I worked at Chicago Tube and Iron in Milwaukee from 1988-1989 then attended Lakeshore Technical College (Materials Management), Lakeshore Technical College (Transportation, Distribution, Logistics), Lakeshore Technical College (AAS Information Technology).
I was at Kohler Company for 22 1/2 years holding various office jobs. Then went to work for BW Papersystems (Pemco) and now I am currently working at The Toro Company in Plymouth, WI, as an Operations Assistant.
I am married to my soul mate, Jay Butzen, (South High Class of 1979) and have two grown children (son and daughter).
I previously sang in Sound Celebration Women's Barbershop Chorus and was the Recording Secretary for the Chorus' Executive Bo...Expand for more
ard. I now sing Alto II for the Sheboygan Symphony Chorus. I am also a recent inductee of Lakeshore Technical College's chapter of Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society. This was definitely a very proud moment for me considering how I did not embrace school as I should have when I was younger.
I recently discovered I have a talent for photography, so I worked toward becoming a member of the Sheboygan Visual Artists and the Plymouth Arts Center. I am proud to say, also, I am now photographic artist with them and I can start showing/selling my work. I have also recently gone through
Road America's Motorcycle class and now have my motorcycle license.
I consider myself a "late bloomer" as I have done all these things after the age of 50 and after my kids have grown up. I am glad I am not afraid to learn and try new things as this helps to make life more interesting. My only sibling recently died at the age of 52, so in honor of her, I am going to keep learning and trying new things until I am not able to.
