Monte's Story
Life, or what passes for it...
I left Gas City Indiana in summer of 1966 and finished high school at Princeton High in Sharonville Ohio, graduating in 1967.
Although it was hard to change high schools in my senior year, I am blessed to have friends from both schools. Every five years, I go to two reunions!
In college, I worked as a disc jockey ("Feeling great at 7:08!") and as a cab driver, where I learned how to go from Philadelphia to New York via Baltimore.
After getting my bachelors degree (in Evening College) at the University of Cincinnati in 1974, I came to work at Continental Can in Sharonville. My career at Continental Can brought me to Chicago, then to Stamford Connecticut. After a disasterous but mercifully short stint at Kraft Foods, I came to First Chicago in 1984.
I married Stella Moreno in 1985. We shucked our corporate careers and opened our sign company in Atlanta in 1992. Our twins, Stephi and Kyle, were born in July '97. We moved our family and our busine...Expand for more
ss to Arlington Heights Illinois in late 1998. Our company is Arlington Signs and Banners.
Over the years, I have been active in business, political and community affairs. I've been on the boards of a chamber of commerce and a political action committe. I've been a cub scout leader and a little-league baseball manager.
I started teaching myself to cook in 2004. I successfully boiled water on the fourth try. My favorite dishes are seafood and pasta, but let's just say my first attempt at mussels and linguini did not have the family rushing back for seconds. Today the German potato salad, tomorrow the world potato salad!
I started taking guitar and piano lessons in 2007. Along with some neighbors, I've started a band that plays at block parties. You can go to youtube and search for Evergreen Avenue Block Party to see how we sounded in summer of 2008. We are a little better now.
Look me up on Face Book under my full name Monte C. Sellers.
I'd enjoy hearing from old friends.
