Morag's Story
Life
Wow, where to start. I finally finished college (you can read all about that in the college tab), I've applied to grad school and got the Certified Legal Assistant designation I spent a year studying for. I have 2 1/2 kids -- a step son who lives with me, a step daughter who lives with her mom, and a daughter of my own. They're great kids. Right now, I'm busy working at a local law firm, but the future is holding a few interesting things. I'm not sure if I'll be moving to Charleston, South Carolina in the near future or not but part of being a military wife means being able to change plans at a moment's notice. :)
College
I've been to so many colleges it's not funny. At last count I think it was 12. I graduated from Excelsior, but they don't offer classes, just degrees, so I actually went to Ryerson (in Canada), University of Maryland, and Brigham Young University for the majority of my classes. I picked up others at a bunch of different schools. It may have taken me 10 years to finish it, but I've got my expensive piece of paper and I'm darned proud of it. :)
05/01/06 update: Well, I've finished the Certified Legal Assistant exam -- it's kind...Expand for more
a like the bar exam for paralegals, a very intensive 2 day exam testing everything from ethics and judgement to spelling and interviewing techniques. I've applied to graduate school to do a masters' degree in Liberal Studies, with a concentration in history. Hopefully I'll find out soon if I'm accepted into the program.
04/10/12 update: Well, I'm almost done with grad school at Fort Hays State -- just have the thesis to do. My stepson is a Marine, married and living on his own with his wife. My stepdaughter is going to culinary school, and my daughter is almost done with 5th grade. I now am a small business owner and run a freelance paralegal company, which is great. Life has been good.
05/28/15 update: Finally finished grad school. The other expensive piece of paper is in the mail :) My stepson is out of the Marine Corps, my stepdaughter changed careers and is now doing interior design and my daughter will be going to high school in the fall. My freelance paralegal company is still going strong and I'm looking at branching out to legal project management consulting. But I'm pretty much done with school. No more degrees in my future, that's for sure!
