Morris's Story
One of the worst experiences of my life, I was the only black kid in my class, and at 7 years old, I didn't know that I would be treated differently. I was also one of if not the most intelligent children in my class, The teacher would ask a question I would raise my hand and i remember her saying my answer was wrong on many occasions, then she would ask other kids that were white and reluctantly someone would say the same answer as I had, and the teacher w...Expand for more
ould say very good and give them a star, meanwhile I was placed in a corner with a hat that literally said the word "Dunce", I knew i wasn't stupid and didn't yet understand racism, I thought there was just something not likeable about me as a person, it traumatized me till high school, i went from being very outgoing, to shy quiet distant and angry, fortunately, The teacher and her racist self didn't break me, and sadly this is how I learned what racism is!
