Myra's Story

Life I now have four beautiful grandchildren. Kyler, 7 years, West, 5 years, and Willow, 2 by my youngest daughter, Erin. My middle daughter, Shelley and her husband of 3 years had Sawyer last January. My oldest daughterr, Kym and her husband, John will be married 3 years in March. My husband, Mike, who had brain surgery 5 years ago is doing great. For those of you who went to Coronado High and are trying to determine if you knew me, let me see if I can give you a few hints. I have an older brother named Paul. In fact most people who run into me and think they recognize me say, "Hey, aren't you Paul Mason's sister?" Nevermind remembering my name ;o) He was good friends with Scott Wilson, Don Bombardier, John Mueller, Paul Haskell, Jerry Reeves and Randy Petty among others. We lived at 1134 Palau Road on the silver strand from 1967 to 1969. He was the paperboy for a while during that time and he drove a red corvair. Some of my teachers were: Mr. Wolfe- math and science Mr. Mitchell- Typing Mr. Luedtke- Art Mrs. Hanks- Home Ec. Mr. Jacobsen & Mr. Miner- English Miss McSheey- World Geography Mr. Hogan- Business Math Mr. Humphreys- Psychology Ms. Booth, Hinkle & Stepetz- P.E. (in which I rarely participated.) For those of you who went to East High, I remember having Mrs. Judd for English, after I transfered from Mrs. Richardson's english class. Funny, but aside from working in the library, (I think the name of the girl with whom I worked was Becky Hurley) those are the only teachers, I remember. I remember Ron Powers, Betty an Barbara McBeth (rode to school with them each morning) Mary Topness, Steve Higbee, Cyndee Dibley, Cindy Blanchard among others. I lived on Apple street for a while, then moved to East Park and lived on Magnuson Way. Lastly, for those of you who attended Northeast High, I remember my humanities teacher, Mrs. McInnis, very well. I also had Mrs. Morris for shorthand and Ms. Smith for vocabulary. My best friends were Glenda Flowers and Debbie London. Our annuals were l...Expand for more
ate coming in and by the time our signing party came to pass, I had already moved to Florida with my parents. So, no signatures. :( If you do remember me, please e-mail me. School I went to 16 different schools. Unfortunately I only remember the names of 10 of them. Treadwell in Memphis, George Dewey and Kalyan in the Philippines, O.J. Semmes, Ensley and Brentwood Jr., Pensacola Junior College, George Stone and a trade school for sculptured nails in Pensacola, FL, Coronado High in Coronado, CA, East High in Bremerton, WA and Northeast High in Oklahoma City. I've lived all over. I never participated in any extracurricular activies. I was fairly shy, but apparently was a real butt at times. Never had much self-esteem. I'm glad that changed, because I'm told I'm much nicer now. Workplace Right after I got out of high school, I went to work at the galley at the base here in Pensacola . I got married soon thereafter and had a little girl. After my divorce I worked at many jobs, including a couple of convenience stores, then started doing sculptured nails. 26 years later I was still doing nails for a few friends and family. My shop was in my home, but when hurricane Ivan destroyed my home, I had to quit the nail business. While my girls were in high school, I was a very active volunteer as a band booster. I was the treasurer, chaperone co-chairperson,helped with fundraising and concessions. I went on every trip the girls went on. I enjoyed it so much, I hated to see it end when they graduated. My husband and I owned a tattoo studio for 7 years where I was the piercer. We then opened a janitorial service. After hurricane Ivan, my husband became a security guard for FEMA. He guarded the trailer sites where the victims of hurricanes Ivan, Dennis and Katrina resided. For the past ten years I have been employed with the health department. I am in clinical nursing and currently work in Family Planning. I can't believe it took me so long to discover how rewarding this kind of work can be.
