Myrna's Story

Life After having some trouble with University I decided to go to Kelsey and get my Diploma in Nursing. In 1992 I married Kevin Lensen who farms with his family at Vanscoy and works as a Truck and Trailer machanic to support his farming. I graduated in 1994 with my Diploma in Nursing. By the time I was writing my registration exams I was pregnant with my first child Aron. In 1997 we had our second child Krystina who is our redhead. In 1998 I was hired at Central Haven Nursing Home here in Saskatoon. It is a German Mennonite home which is different as I am neither. The people I work with are friendly and we basically all get along working as a team to look after our 60 residents as best we can. I work as a part-time RN giving...Expand for more
me time to be with my kids. In 2000 we had Nadine our third child who was a preemie. In 2003 we had our fourth and final child Shaun. Last year we finally found the bigger house we had been looking for and moved to Parkridge community where we are much happier. I am now getting more active in our local union as the SUN local president. The kids are making our house like a small petting zoo with a cat, rabbit, hamster, couple of snails and an assortment of fish. Life remains very busy. This last year I finally had enough of being an overweight person and started going to Gail's Weight Loss center here in Saskatoon. To date I have managed to lose 104 pounds and 10 to 12 clothing sizes. Many people hardly recognize me anymore.
