Nadeem's Story
Life
Wow... what have I been up to. Well, not that much it seems. I went to college, got my degree in architecture. I work in an architecture firm in Costa Mesa. I love to play basketball and raquetball. I still sprain my ankle at either religiously. I learned to skiboard and get a cabin in Big Bear each year with some friends and we go ski/snowboard pretty much every weekend during the season. I love to go to Vegas, where I usually surrender more money than I'd ever plan (anyone have one of those "You might have a problem" brochures).
The biggest thing I've got going right now is that I just bought a house in Anaheim. That really interferes with that Vegas thing I was just talking about. Other than that, I'm pretty much the same guy now as I was in high school. But way smarter... Okay, okay.. not smarter. Wiser maybe? Hmmm.. maybe not. Okay.. just the same then. Yeah... same guy.
School
High school, huh. I remember high school. I was just there, what, 10 years ago. What the...??? 10 years..., and counting. Are you kidding me? Some things seem like the were yesterday, some things I can't remember at all. About 2 years ago I ran into someone from high school that recognized me. For the life of me, I didn't know who he was. And this coming from someone who knows the lines to all three "Back to the Future" movies (wait, did I say that outloud). Strange. I always thought that I would be the person who remembered everyone, and the person that everyone forgot. I guess maybe you're not as insignificant a...Expand for more
s you might think. Well, except for that other guy. He must have been if I couldn't remember him. Okay, that might sound pretty bad, but c'mon... the lines to the entire "Back to the Future" trilogy (doh... I said it again).
College
Why do I have to answer "other" to all those questions. It all looks so familiar. Ethnicity: "Other." Even now, my life never seems to fit the bill of the "fill the bubble" questionaire. What were those questions...??? Oh yeah...
"Major?" I majored in architecture. I graduated (in just a shade under a decade, too), and now I work in an architecture firm in Costa Mesa.
"What's the first thing you think of when you think of college?" I think about walking into my architecture studio at 2:00am and a Saturday night / Sunday morning in the middle of the quarter, with no deadline in sight, to work on my project. Not only that, but to find 20 other people there as well.
"What was your first college roommate like?" Wow.. there is no bubble in any questionaire to describe this guy. Hands down he was the biggest loser I've ever met. He grew weed in his closet with a flourescent lamp. He smoked crank in the room with pipes that he blew himself with a propane blow torch and beekers that he stole from Chem lab. He could destroy our room in a matter of moments. He put up a spectacular .17 GPA his first quarter (Failed everything except for the D that he got in weight training). To top it off, he ran up a $700 phone bill, which luckily was in his name.
I loved college.
