My Kids
It was a blessing to give birth to my son...but in 1967 times were archaic and I was sent away to an unwed mother's home for the last half of 10th grade (I was "suppose" to be in boarding school, of course). Tom Laughon (singer for The Maundy Quintet and my long-time boyfriend and father of my son) and I wanted to get married, but society coerced us into giving our child away for adoption so that I could continue my education amongst other reasons. I completed the 10th grade in the "home" and ironicall...Expand for more
y enough, when I came back to GHS for 11th grade, they wouldn't let me back in school because I "had" been pregnant. I guess they thought I would be a "bad influence" on everyone. My family and I had to petition GHS to let me back in and finally they did after much to-do! Subsequently, I fooled Ms. Hendrickson, and graduated with a 4.2 average, NHS, and Humanitarian of the Year (1969).
Now back to my Son...after 34 years of seaching for him, we have found each other again and were "reunited" on October 10, 2001. His name is John and we found each other on the Internet at adoption.com, and then the adoption agency verified that we are indeed Mother and Son!!! We spent the holidays in Gainesville and he met all of my side of his family. Believe me, there is something to genetics...we are so much alike in all ways.
So any of you that also were talked into adoption, don't give up hope on finding your loved one. Miracles do happen...and the Internet can make it possible even if the laws don't.
My life is now complete due to finding my long-lost son...my only child.
