Nancy Ruth's Story
Life
Well, I ended up in Southwest Florida. Who would have guessed? I love my new job and am really beginning to feel at home here in the tropics. I run the larger of two Wednesday night children's programs and the combined summer midweek program. We are also starting a new preteen (4th & 5th grade) discipleship/ministry training program January, 2008. That will also fall under my job description. I also get to play, of course. A few times a year, I plan special events for the preteens and their teachers. This may be a lock-in, a play night, going to a special event, or something else fun. Then, of course, there is Vacation Bible School, summer camp, holiday programs, parent conference, and other large projects which I help plan and execute. I am singing in the choir, so I will be part of the Southwest Florida Christmas Pageant. It will be a huge production and I am very excited to be a part of it all. teach 1st and 3rd grader Sunday school at 9:30, and sometimes attend the singles Sunday school class at 11:00. Some weeks I need to say in the children's wing and that is fine with me. While I love my coworkers, it is nice to make friends in the singles class who are outside of work. The weather took a bit of getting used to, but I survived my first hurricane season and am enjoying the mild winter and Christmas lights in the palm trees. All in all, I am very grateful God brought me to Florida.
School
Involved in music and drama at church and in school. Took German and computer software courses in HS.
College
BS in Applied Ministry, Education Emphasis, with a Music Minor from Oklahoma Baptist University. Also took French (since my sister married a Frenchman and they made their home near Paris, France). Master of Divinity with Biblical Languages from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. Stayed involved in Southwestern Singers there.
